GITEX and Gulfood Move to Dubai Exhibition Centre 2026

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), a global events leader, has made a major announcement that will change the future of international exhibitions. Two of the world’s biggest trade events, GITEX GLOBAL and Gulfood, will move to the Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) at Expo City Dubai in 2026. This change will make Dubai’s position even stronger as a global hub for technology, food trade, and innovation.

About the Two Mega Events

GITEX GLOBAL is known as the world’s largest technology and artificial intelligence show. It brings together the biggest companies and brightest minds in the tech world to showcase new ideas, innovations, and future technologies.

Gulfood is the world’s largest food and beverage (F&B) sourcing event. It connects food producers, traders, and chefs from around the world. These two exhibitions attract thousands of visitors and contribute greatly to Dubai’s economy each year.

The Agreement Signed at GITEX 2025

The decision to relocate these events was announced at GITEX GLOBAL 2025. The agreement was signed between Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of Events & Exhibitions Management at DWTC, and Mahir Julfar, Executive Vice President of Venue Services Management at DWTC.

This formal move shows how Dubai is continuously improving its infrastructure and expanding opportunities for international business growth.

Voices Behind the Decision

Trixie LohMirmand said that the relocation of both GITEX and Gulfood will bring new growth opportunities. She explained that moving to the new Dubai Exhibition Centre will give both events space to expand and connect more deeply with Dubai’s growing tourism, cultural, and lifestyle sectors.

Mahir Julfar added that this relocation is a “new era” for Dubai’s event economy. He said the new venue will act as a future-ready platform that supports global trade, innovation, and sector growth. It aligns perfectly with Dubai’s D33 economic plan, which aims to double the city’s economy by 2033.

About Dubai Exhibition Centre

The Dubai Exhibition Centre (DEC) is located at Expo City Dubai, a smart and sustainable urban district. The venue is currently undergoing a US$2.7 billion expansion, which will make it the largest purpose-built indoor exhibition space in the Middle East.

DEC offers advanced infrastructure, modern facilities, and easy access to major transportation links, including the upcoming Al Maktoum International Airport, which is set to be the world’s largest airport when completed.

Link with Dubai’s Future Vision

The relocation supports Dubai’s 2040 Urban Master Plan and Economic Agenda (D33), which aim to make Dubai a top global city for business, investment, and living. By moving these mega events to Expo City Dubai, DWTC is helping create an open, innovative, and future-ready economy.

These plans also attract more digital nomads, investors, and international companies to set up operations in Dubai, strengthening the city’s global presence.

Impact on Dubai’s Economy and Tourism

GITEX and Gulfood generate billions of dirhams each year and bring tens of thousands of international visitors to Dubai. Their relocation will boost not only the events industry but also tourism, hospitality, and retail sectors. Visitors attending these events also enjoy Dubai’s cultural and entertainment attractions, making their experience more dynamic.

This move shows how Dubai continues to grow as a global centre for innovation, trade, and tourism.

The move of GITEX GLOBAL and Gulfood to the Dubai Exhibition Centre in 2026 is more than just a change of venue. It is a major milestone in Dubai’s journey to shape the future of global trade and technology.

With advanced infrastructure, strong leadership, and a clear vision, Dubai is ready to host the world’s biggest industries in an environment built for progress. The new home of GITEX and Gulfood will mark the start of a new era for global business, innovation, and economic success.
