EAA Foundation Marks Olympic Day with Let's Move for Education Event

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The Education Above All (EAA) Foundation organised Let's Move for Education, a community movement event to celebrate Olympic Day 2026 while supporting the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) global Let's Move campaign.

Held at Place Vendome Mall, the event attracted hundreds of participants, including young people, families, Team Qatar athletes, community members, EAA representatives, partner organisations, and invited guests. Participants took part in an indoor community walk and jog designed to encourage physical activity and community engagement.

The programme began with a guided warm-up session before participants completed up to five laps around the mall, covering a distance of approximately five kilometres. The activity celebrated healthy living, wellbeing, social connection, and youth participation in an inclusive environment.

People of different ages and abilities joined the event at their own pace, reinforcing the message that every journey starts with a single step. The activation encouraged everyone to participate regardless of their fitness level.

Through its involvement in the IOC's Let's Move campaign, the EAA Foundation highlighted the wider benefits of sport beyond physical exercise. The foundation emphasised that sport can help young people develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership, and communication skills that contribute to their personal growth both inside and outside the classroom.

The event also reflected the EAA Foundation's commitment to building innovative partnerships that connect education, sport, and social development to create positive opportunities for young people.

Al Jazi Darwish, Director of Communications and Engagement at the EAA Foundation, said, "Sport has the power to bring people together and inspire young people to recognize their potential. Through Let's Move for Education, we are proud to support a global movement that promotes active lifestyles, wellbeing, and community connection, while reinforcing our belief that education and sport can work together to empower young people and help them build the skills they need for life."

The event also strengthened the EAA Foundation's ongoing collaboration with Qatar Foundation and the International Olympic Committee through the Circle In initiative. The programme uses the power of sport to create safe and inclusive spaces that support learning, healing, and personal development for young people.
