UAE Tops Egyptian Engineering Exports Market in 2025

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The United Arab Emirates has emerged as the leading market for Egyptian engineering exports in 2025. This growth reflects the continuing expansion of Egypt’s engineering sector, which is a critical part of the country’s trade and industrial output.

According to the Engineering Export Council of Egypt, under the Ministry of Trade and Industry, exports of engineering products increased by 12 percent from January to August 2025. Total exports reached US$4.187 billion compared to US$3.746 billion during the same period in 2024, marking a record growth for the sector.

Growth Across Global Markets

The sector’s expansion is not limited to the UAE. Targeted markets worldwide, including Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, saw significant increases in imports of Egyptian engineering products.

May Helmy, Executive Director of the Engineering Export Council, highlighted that Arab markets, particularly the UAE, witnessed the most notable growth. This is attributed to growing bilateral trade relations and demand for quality engineering goods from Egypt.

Sector Competitiveness Drives Growth

Sherif El Sayad, Chairman of the Engineering Export Council, emphasized that the sector’s growth reflects its competitiveness in global markets. Despite international challenges, Egyptian engineering companies have maintained high quality standards and efficient supply chains, which strengthened their position abroad.

He noted that the current export levels are the highest in the sector’s history for an eight-month period, signaling a positive trend that is expected to continue through the end of the year.

Projections for 2025

Based on the performance of the first eight months, projections indicate that Egypt’s engineering exports could reach US$6 billion by the end of 2025. Such growth would mark a new milestone for the sector and reinforce Egypt’s status as a key player in global engineering trade.

Exporters are optimistic about sustaining these trends, particularly in markets like the UAE, where demand for industrial machinery, construction equipment, and other engineering products remains strong.

UAE’s Strategic Role

The UAE’s position as the top market for Egyptian engineering exports is driven by multiple factors, including trade agreements, geographical proximity, and ongoing infrastructure and development projects that require engineering imports.

This trend highlights the strategic importance of strengthening trade relations with Gulf countries to ensure long-term growth and sustainability for Egypt’s engineering sector.

Supporting Egyptian Trade Initiatives

The Engineering Export Council continues to promote Egyptian engineering products internationally. It provides exporters with guidance on market access, quality standards, and trade facilitation to expand Egypt’s footprint in both regional and global markets.

By leveraging such initiatives, the sector can maintain momentum, attract new buyers, and further contribute to Egypt’s economic growth and employment opportunities.
