Oman Suspends Hotel Licenses to Raise Tourism Standards

Oman Suspends Hotel Licenses to Raise Tourism Standards

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MHT) has suspended the licenses of several hotels that failed to meet official standards. This step aims to protect visitors and ensure that all accommodations provide safe and high-quality services. The move reflects Oman’s strong commitment to maintaining tourism standards that match global expectations.

Among those affected are the Al Nahda Center for Resorts and Health Recreation in Barka and several hotels in Seeb, Muscat. These establishments did not meet quality and safety requirements set by the ministry. The government emphasized that maintaining proper standards is essential to preserve Oman’s reputation as a reliable travel destination.

The ministry also identified 30 unlicensed establishments in the Dhofar Governorate offering daily rentals without permits. Officials have warned them to regularize their status immediately. This campaign is part of Oman’s wider effort to organize the tourism market and protect travelers from unsafe or illegal accommodations.

Tourism is a key part of Oman’s economy, and the government wants every visitor to feel safe and satisfied. By suspending non-compliant hotels, Oman is supporting responsible businesses that follow the rules. The ministry also provides an online platform for travelers to check if hotels are properly licensed before booking.

With its beautiful landscapes, historic sites, and warm hospitality, Oman is becoming a leading destination in the region. The government’s strict action ensures that the growth of tourism remains sustainable and that service quality remains high. These efforts will strengthen visitor trust and help Oman continue to build a world-class tourism sector.
