The Sultanate of Oman will host the Double World Snooker Championship, including both Men’s and Team events, from 15 to 23 November 2025. The tournament will take place in Muscat and promises to attract snooker fans from across the globe.

Participation of International Players

Over 120 players from 35 countries are expected to compete in the championship. This large participation highlights Oman’s growing reputation as a hub for international sports and positions the Sultanate among leading hosts for major global tournaments.

Announcement of Oman’s Winning Bid

Oman’s successful bid to host the championship was announced during a press conference at the Oman Automobile Club. The event will be supervised by the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, Sohar International Bank, and Active Oman.

IBSF Confidence in Oman

Khalid bin Khalfan Al Sabahi, Chairman of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee, said the IBSF’s decision reflects their confidence in Oman’s ability to organize world-class sports events. He noted that Oman’s bid stood out due to its clear vision, strategic planning, and integrated organizational structure.

Preparing the National Team

The Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee has focused on ensuring that the national snooker team is fully prepared for the championship. Detailed plans have been implemented to train players and help them compete at the highest level, aiming to represent Oman with excellence.

Promoting Oman’s Global Image

The championship is seen as an opportunity to enhance Oman’s international image. It is expected to showcase Oman’s hospitality, cultural richness, and ability to host major events, strengthening its position as a global sports destination.

Boosting Sports Tourism

Hosting the Double World Snooker Championship will contribute significantly to sports tourism. The event will attract international visitors, provide economic benefits, and allow Omani youth to engage with world-class snooker players, inspiring the next generation of athletes.

Extensive Media Coverage

The championship will receive broad media coverage. Fans will be able to follow the tournament through IBSF platforms, international media outlets, and official channels of the Oman Billiards and Snooker Committee. This extensive coverage ensures visibility both inside and outside Oman.

The event is expected to boost the popularity of snooker in Oman. By providing a platform for local players to compete internationally, it encourages talent development, creates opportunities for professional growth, and promotes the sport across the Sultanate.

Khalid bin Khalfan Al Sabahi concluded by emphasizing that the championship will leave a lasting impact on Oman’s sports scene. The event will serve as a model for future international tournaments, combining high-level competition with cultural exchange and community engagement.
