San Ramon experienced two minor earthquakes on Tuesday, leaving residents surprised but safe. The first tremor struck early in the morning at 5:53 a.m., registering a magnitude 3.0, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The second quake occurred later the same day at 10:11 p.m., also measuring 3.0 in magnitude. It was centered just south of San Ramon, creating noticeable shaking in nearby neighborhoods.
Despite the repeated tremors, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. Local authorities and emergency services confirmed that the area remains safe, and residents were advised to stay alert and follow standard earthquake safety measures.
Seismologists from the USGS said that the two quakes are considered minor and are part of natural seismic activity in the region. They reminded the public that small earthquakes often occur without causing serious harm.
Residents shared their experiences of the quakes, saying they felt light shaking in homes and office buildings. Many took the opportunity to review earthquake preparedness measures, such as securing furniture and keeping emergency kits ready.
The USGS continues to monitor the region closely for any further activity. Experts stress the importance of awareness and readiness in earthquake-prone areas to ensure safety during even minor events.
These twin quakes serve as a reminder for San Ramon and surrounding areas to stay informed about seismic risks and take proper precautions to protect life and property.
