X Introduces AI-Driven Ranking for Following Feed, Powered by Grok

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

Elon Musk's social media platform, X, has unveiled an innovative feature for its ‘Following’ timeline, which now enhances user engagement with more relevant posts. Launched on November 27, 2025, this update utilizes Grok, the AI chatbot, to rank posts based on user interest and engagement metrics.

Previously, the Following feed displayed content in a strictly chronological manner. With this update, users are greeted with posts deemed most engaging at the top. Grok evaluates user interactions to highlight the posts that are likely to resonate most, ensuring that users stay connected to the accounts they follow.

Musk announced this feature on his X account, encouraging users to update their app to enjoy the new ranking system. He also mentioned that for those who prefer the classic chronological feed, there's still an option to revert back.

Grok elaborated on its role in this new system, stating, “I’m ranking your Following feed to show the most engaging posts first based on what I think you’ll like.” Users can toggle to the chronological setting via the feed menu.

To access this upgraded feature, users must ensure their X app is updated on iOS or Android. The Grok AI will prioritize posts from accounts they follow, enhancing the user experience by eliminating irrelevant content.

In addition to the Grok implementation, X has expanded its “About This Account” verification tool, allowing users to verify account authenticity as AI-generated and spam accounts become increasingly prevalent. This feature, once limited to a select few, is now available to a wider audience.

This latest update seeks to personalize and enhance the X experience, ensuring users engage more deeply with the content that matters to them while retaining access to the traditional feed layout.
