At 29 years old, and the brother of England cricketers Sam and Tom, Curran formed a vital 99-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Sikandar Raza, who added 65 runs before his dismissal, further strengthening Zimbabwe's grip on the match.
Resuming on 130-2 with Curran on 52, he reached his century off 217 balls, showcasing both patience and skill before being dismissed lbw. This innings marks a significant achievement in Curran's career, pivotal for Zimbabwe's standing in the match.
Making his Test debut, Afghanistan’s Ziaur Rahman excelled with 7 wickets for 97 runs, boasting the second-best bowling figures in Afghanistan’s Test history, following Rashid Khan’s 7-66 against Zimbabwe. His efforts kept the Afghan side competitive amidst Zimbabwe's dominating performance.
