Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Abu Dhabi Customs has taken a significant step in strengthening its trade and logistics capabilities by signing a “Letter of Intent for Cooperation” with Altana Technologies, a global leader in artificial intelligence solutions for supply chain visibility. This partnership is designed to improve resilience, security, and sustainability in international trade by leveraging AI-powered tools.

Signing Ceremony in New York

The signing ceremony took place in New York on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum (ADIF). The event was attended by several high-level officials, including Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), and Amna Binzaal Al Mheiri, UAE Consul-General in New York.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and Evan Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Altana Technologies, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.

Goals of the Partnership

The agreement aims to explore new initiatives that strengthen Abu Dhabi’s role as a global trade hub. It will also support Altana’s broader mission of building trusted and inclusive digital trade networks. Through this partnership, both organizations will work together to create transparent, efficient, and safe supply chains that can withstand global challenges.

Altana Technologies provides advanced solutions that enable trusted data-sharing and the use of AI-driven analytics. These tools help businesses and governments manage risks, improve compliance, and reinforce supply chain resilience, which is increasingly important in today’s complex global trade environment.

Focus on Innovation and Competitiveness

Al Mansoori highlighted that the cooperation reflects Abu Dhabi’s strategic goal of positioning itself as a world-class logistics and trade hub. He noted that embracing innovation and digital transformation will boost competitiveness, minimize risks, and promote smoother trade flows.

He added that Abu Dhabi Customs is committed to adopting new technologies to remain at the forefront of international trade practices while supporting the vision of Abu Dhabi’s leadership for sustainable economic growth.

Altana’s Vision for Trusted Trade Networks

Evan Smith, CEO of Altana Technologies, expressed pride in partnering with Abu Dhabi Customs. He emphasized that this cooperation will help build AI-enabled, trusted trade networks that are both resilient and transparent.

Smith pointed out that sustainable and secure supply chains not only benefit businesses but also bring broader advantages to economies and societies around the world. This makes the partnership an important milestone in using technology for global trade improvement.

The cooperation between Abu Dhabi Customs and Altana is more than a technology agreement; it is part of a larger strategy to enhance Abu Dhabi’s role in global trade. By combining advanced AI solutions with strong policy direction, the initiative aims to reduce trade-related risks, improve compliance, and ensure smooth, trusted trade flows across borders.

This partnership supports the UAE’s long-term vision to strengthen its economic resilience, attract global investments, and remain a leader in innovation-driven trade practices.

With this agreement, Abu Dhabi Customs and Altana Technologies have laid the foundation for future projects and collaborations that could set new benchmarks for global trade operations. By prioritizing trust, transparency, and innovation, both sides are ensuring that supply chains are ready to face the challenges of tomorrow.

As global trade becomes more interconnected, initiatives like this highlight the importance of technology in creating safe, efficient, and sustainable trade ecosystems. The partnership is expected to yield long-term benefits for Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the international trade community.
