In Nova Scotia, it has been reported that a youth suffered serious injuries due to a dog attack involving three large dogs on Saturday evening in the rural area of Welshtown.
The Shelburne District RCMP stated that emergency responders were called to the 100 block of Upper Sandy Cove Road after receiving alerts about the dangerous incident around 5 p.m. Upon their arrival, it was revealed that the youth had been passing a private property on a bicycle when the dogs suddenly emerged and attacked.
Given the critical nature of the injuries, an air ambulance was dispatched. The victim was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to a Halifax hospital for urgent medical treatment. Officials confirmed that the injuries were deemed life-threatening at the time of airlifting.
The RCMP reported that the dogs involved were later euthanized by a veterinarian for safety reasons. The specific breeds of the dogs, the age of the victim, and the identity of the property owner have not been released.
Authorities noted that the investigation into the details of this incident is still in progress. Currently, no further information is being shared as the review continues.
