Dhurandhar Box Office: Ranveer Singh's Spy Thriller Surpasses ₹844 Cr

Post by : Meena Hassan

The thrilling journey of Ranveer Singh’s espionage film, Dhurandhar, showcases its continuous box office success, impressively persevering beyond a month since its debut. Latest statistics released via the filmmakers’ Instagram reveal that the film accumulated ₹3.6 crore on Day 36, culminating in a remarkable box office collection of ₹844.45 crore across India.

A newly unveiled poster highlights the film's earnings, indicating that it generated ₹784.5 crore within its first five weeks of release. Notably, ₹56.35 crore was earned just in the fifth week, underscoring its robust presence in cinemas. The makers shared their excitement with a caption stating, “The March of Wrath continues to dominate the box office. Book your tickets. #Dhurandhar Ruling Cinemas Worldwide.”

Launched on December 5, Dhurandhar is a compelling tale of espionage loosely based on several significant real-world events, including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack, the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, and elements connected to Operation Lyari.

The film features an impressive ensemble led by Ranveer Singh portraying the intelligence agent Hamza Ali Mazari. Supporting roles include Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, Sara Arjun as Yalina Jamali, and Rakesh Bedi as Jameel Jamali.

Renowned filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shared his critical perspective on Dhurandhar, commending its thematic depth and intent. He emphasized that for a spy or a soldier's portrayal to resonate, they must encapsulate a sense of conflict against their adversary. However, he noted two areas of concern; a specific dialogue from R. Madhavan's character and the film’s concluding line by Ranveer Singh, “Ye naya India hai.”
