Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) has launched the ‘Employee to Entrepreneur Programme’ to support employees from DIEZ and its affiliated economic zones in converting innovative ideas into successful startups. The initiative strengthens Dubai’s ambition to become a leading global hub for entrepreneurship and innovation.
Aligning with Dubai’s Startup Vision
The programme is part of the national campaign, ‘The Emirates: The Startup Capital of the World,’ and complements Dubai Economic Agenda D33. It contributes to Dubai’s goal of becoming one of the top three urban economies globally by 2030 while fostering 30 unicorns and a knowledge-based economy.
Comprehensive Support System for Startups
Participants gain access to DIEZ’s extensive business ecosystem, including advanced infrastructure, tailored licensing packages, business setup services, and strategic initiatives that simplify turning ideas into viable ventures.
Key support partners include:
Oraseya Capital – advisory and investment assistance.
SANDBOX Accelerator – project development and prototype testing.
Scality Program – scaling tech startups regionally and globally.
Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Campus (Dtec) – largest tech hub and co-working space in the region.
Structured Path to Entrepreneurial Success
The programme is structured in three key phases:
Idea Development – evaluating market needs and refining concepts.
Planning and Model Building – creating business plans, operational strategies, and resource allocation.
Launch and Expansion – connecting participants with investors and scaling startups.
Diverse Ideas Across Sectors
The first edition received submissions across technology, mobility, healthcare, design, and other sectors. Each idea was evaluated for economic feasibility, scalability, market potential, and social impact, reflecting the wide-ranging expertise within DIEZ’s workforce.
Driving Dubai’s Startup Ecosystem
By helping employees turn ideas into businesses, the programme aims to strengthen Dubai’s startup ecosystem, promote innovation, create jobs, and support sustainable economic growth. It demonstrates how strategic infrastructure and guidance can empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to Dubai’s economic vision.
Through this initiative, Dubai reinforces its commitment to innovation-led growth. By nurturing talent, enabling entrepreneurship, and providing resources for success, the city aims to maintain its position as a global business and startup hub while encouraging a culture of creativity and ambition among its workforce.
