DP World has commenced the next phase of constructing its new global headquarters at Expo City Dubai. The eight-storey landmark is designed to reflect innovation, sustainability, and the future of global trade. A ceremony marking the completion of foundations was attended by top officials including Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem.
A Hub for Global Connectivity and Collaboration
Scheduled for completion in 2027, the headquarters will anchor Expo City Dubai as a hub for international connectivity. The facility will set a new benchmark for sustainable workspace design and serve as a central location for global trade and innovation in the region.
Architectural Highlights and Public Spaces
One of the building’s most striking features is a 10.45-metre cantilever, giving the impression of floating above the landscape. The 301,940 sq ft facility will house 850 staff and welcome 2,000 visitors daily. The first two levels will be open to the public, featuring cafes, restaurants, and meeting rooms to foster interaction and collaboration.
Preserving Iconic Expo Elements
The Flow Pavilion and fountain from Expo 2020 Dubai will remain as a permanent centerpiece, attracting visitors and symbolizing DP World’s mission to facilitate global trade. This iconic feature has been viewed by over 1.2 million visitors during Expo 2020.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The headquarters will include the Middle East’s first fully automated parking facility of this scale, accommodating nearly 1,000 vehicles, including 100 electric cars. The design aligns with DP World’s commitment to technology, sustainability, and innovation.
Leadership Vision for Future Trade
Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy highlighted the alignment between Expo City Dubai’s values and DP World’s vision, emphasizing the city’s role as a platform for innovation and global connection. Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem stated the headquarters will combine technology, sustainability, and talent to shape the future of trade.
DP World’s Historical Journey
DP World traces its origins to Port Rashid in 1972, followed by the development of Jebel Ali Port and Free Zone. Over decades, the company expanded internationally, acquired P&O, and evolved into the world’s third-largest port operator.
With foundations completed and the first floor underway, DP World’s new headquarters will open in 2027, establishing Expo City Dubai as a global trade and innovation landmark. The building will continue the legacy of DP World’s Flow Pavilion and its mission to make trade flow efficiently worldwide.
