Ikkis Holds Steady at the Box Office, Collects Rs 26 Crore

Post by : Meena Hassan

The film Ikkis, a war drama directed by the renowned Sriram Raghavan and produced under Maddock Films, continues to find its footing at the box office following its release on January 1. It marks the debut of Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, who has achieved a total collection of Rs 26.35 crore over the course of just nine days.

On its ninth day, Ikkis recorded an additional Rs 85 lakh, indicating sustained audience engagement. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Hindi occupancy rate on the film's second Friday (January 9) stood at 11.57%. Audience turnout fluctuated, with morning shows at 6.75%, afternoon at 10.43%, evening at 13.36%, and night screenings peaking at an impressive 15.74%.

Set during the iconic Battle of Basantar from the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Ikkis narrates the impactful story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who, at just 21 years old, made the ultimate sacrifice and was posthumously bestowed with the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military commendation. The film artfully balances gripping battle sequences with heartfelt storytelling, resulting in a captivating cinematic experience.

Alongside Agastya Nanda, the cast features legendary actor Dharmendra, Simar Bhatia, Vivaan Shah, Sikandar Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat. This film holds special significance as it marks Dharmendra's last performance before his passing at the age of 89 in November. Just prior, he expressed an emotional message encouraging audiences to experience Ikkis, praising the director for his vision and the film's emotional depth.

With its compelling mix of wartime drama, stellar performances, and poignant storytelling, Ikkis has emerged as a prominent film of the year, resonating with viewers nationwide.
