WWE's Night of Champions 2025 was packed with drama, emotion, and unforgettable moments—but none more impactful than the main event featuring John Cena and CM Punk. These two legends, who’ve shared both fierce rivalries and moments of teamwork over the years, finally clashed in what turned out to be Cena’s last match in Saudi Arabia. And it was nothing short of iconic.
The Kingdom Arena in Riyadh was completely sold out, buzzing with anticipation. Fans came in droves to witness history. As soon as John Cena arrived, he was welcomed like a hero. Despite playing the “heel” or villain in recent storylines, the crowd treated him like a returning champion. Chants, cheers, and signs filled the arena, showing just how deeply loved he is—even by fans halfway across the world.
Interestingly, CM Punk—once known as the "Voice of the Voiceless"—didn’t receive the warm reception many might’ve expected. Even after apologizing publicly for some past remarks, the audience wasn't forgiving. Boos echoed throughout the arena every time he appeared. For that night, the roles seemed reversed: Cena, often portrayed as a controversial figure in the U.S. in recent years, was the babyface, while Punk became the villain in the eyes of the crowd.
The match itself was a classic. It lasted a little over 26 minutes and had all the back-and-forth action that fans hoped for. Cena pulled out all the stops, showing flashes of the same fire and grit that made him a 16-time world champion. In the end, Cena pinned Punk and claimed the win, closing this chapter of his wrestling journey on a triumphant note.
But the surprises didn’t end there.
After the final bell, Saudi officials stepped in to honor John Cena for everything he has given to WWE and its fans, especially in the Kingdom. Turki Al-Sheikh, the Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority in Saudi Arabia and a major figure in global combat sports, presented Cena with a heartfelt gift: a beautifully crafted sword and a special commemorative plaque.
The plaque, engraved with Cena’s name, the event date, and the venue, carried the official Night of Champions 2025 tagline—“THE LAST TIME IS NOW!” It was a powerful tribute to Cena’s final appearance as an active wrestler in Saudi Arabia. Turki Al-Sheikh later shared a video of this emotional moment on his official X account, which quickly gained attention from fans around the world.
Turki is a well-known supporter of WWE and is currently working alongside Dana White and WWE’s parent company to launch the new TKO Boxing venture. He’s also close to WWE President Nick Khan and has been instrumental in bringing high-profile wrestling events to the Middle East.
The evening was more than just a wrestling show—it was a celebration of legacy. Cena, who’s spent over two decades entertaining fans, left the ring with not just another victory, but with love, appreciation, and a memory that will stay with him forever.
