Morocco secured their second FIFA Arab Cup title with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Jordan after extra time, highlighted by Oussama Tannane’s spectacular strike from his own half. The final at Lusail Stadium kicked off dramatically when Tannane, now in the Qatari league, unleashed a powerful 59-meter shot that struck the post, leaving Jordan’s goalkeeper helpless and briefly halting the match.
Jordan quickly retaliated, leveling the score with Ali Oliwan’s well-placed header from a corner early in the second half. The visitors took the lead in the 68th minute through a penalty, awarded after Mahmoud Almardi’s strike struck a Moroccan hand, allowing Oliwan to net his second goal.
Morocco equalized late in the match, with substitute Abderrazak Hamdallah scoring in the 88th minute to send the game into extra time. Jordan had a golden opportunity to secure the title right before the end of normal time but failed to convert.
During extra time, a stunning volley by Jordan’s Mohannad Abutaha was ruled out for handball by VAR. Morocco eventually sealed the victory when Hamdallah found the net again, completing a follow-up after Marwane Saadane’s bicycle kick from a set piece, finishing the match 3-2 in their favor.
This victory marks Morocco's second Arab Cup title, adding to their win in 2012. The team showcased early dominance, with Tannane coming close to doubling their lead before halftime. Their performance was a mix of talent, determination, and excitement that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Looking ahead, Morocco is set to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, bolstered by European-based players who were absent during the Arab Cup. The 2025 FIFA Arab Cup broke attendance records, selling over a million tickets and doubling the turnout from the previous edition.
Tannane’s incredible goal and Hamdallah’s match-clinching effort provided Morocco with a significant milestone, adding another remarkable chapter to the history of African football.
