In a heart-wrenching incident, two young women from Telangana, Pullakhandam Meghana Rani, aged 25, and 24-year-old Kadiyala Bhavana, lost their lives in a road accident in California on Saturday evening, local police have reported. Both hailed from Mahabubabad district and had been studying in the United States for almost three years, working towards their Master’s degrees.
At the time of their tragic passing, Meghana and Bhavana were nearing the completion of their degrees and were actively pursuing job opportunities in their chosen fields. Their commitment to education and ambition marked their journey in the US as they aimed for better futures.
The accident occurred while they were traveling with friends near Alabama Hills, California. Initial reports suggest that the vehicle lost control on a challenging segment of the road, veering off and falling into a gorge, resulting in fatal injuries for both individuals.
The news of their untimely death has devastated their families and shocked the Telangana community. Both Meghana and Bhavana were known as diligent and aspirational students, making this loss even more poignant.
In response to the tragedy, their families have urgently reached out to the Telangana government and the Ministry of External Affairs for help. They are requesting coordination with the Indian Consulate in San Francisco to facilitate the repatriation of the women’s remains, allowing their families to conduct final rites in accordance with their traditions.
California authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to understand the precise circumstances surrounding the accident, aiming to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
During this challenging time, the Telugu community in the US has come forward to extend support, offering both emotional and logistical assistance to help families cope with the aftermath of this tragic event.
This tragic occurrence serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life, particularly for those navigating education and careers away from home. The memories and legacies of Meghana and Bhavana will be cherished, even as their families seek closure.
