Traffic Restrictions Near IGI Stadium Ahead of A.R. Rahman Concert

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Traffic restrictions and diversions will continue around the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi due to musician A R Rahman’s concert titled “Harmony of Hearts,” scheduled on Saturday evening. According to the Delhi Traffic Police, the concert will take place from 6 pm to 10 pm, and traffic movement in nearby areas will be controlled for safety and crowd management.

Authorities said that roads such as IP Marg, Vikas Marg, and the Ring Road stretch between Rajghat and IP Depot may face heavy congestion. If needed, traffic on IP Marg and Vikas Marg will be diverted, and heavy vehicles will not be allowed to move from Rajghat towards IP Marg during the event hours. Commuters have been advised to avoid these routes from 12 noon to 11 pm on December 20 to prevent inconvenience.

The advisory also highlighted special parking rules. Limited parking will be available only for vehicles with valid parking labels near the stadium. Vehicles must display the parking label clearly on the windscreen with the vehicle number mentioned. Cars without valid labels will not be allowed near the venue. Parking label holders have been advised to use the Ring Road and enter parking areas through MGM Road.

No parking will be allowed on either side of the Ring Road between Rajghat and the IP flyover during the event. Vehicles parked in violation of the advisory will be towed away and legal action may be taken.

For stadium entry, gates 7 and 8 can be accessed from Velodrome Road, while gates 21, 22, and 23 are accessible from MGM Road on the Ring Road side. Gates 16 and 18 will also be open for entry from MGM Road. Commuters are advised to plan their travel in advance.
