Samsung Appoints TM Roh as Co-CEO, Reviving Dual Leadership Model

Samsung Appoints TM Roh as Co-CEO, Reviving Dual Leadership Model

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a notable change in its executive lineup, Samsung Electronics has appointed TM Roh, the head of its mobile division, as co-CEO and head of device experience. This marks a return to the company’s established dual-CEO framework, aimed at streamlining the oversight of its chip and consumer sectors following a period led by a single CEO.

TM Roh has been serving as the acting leader of Samsung’s consumer business since April after the unexpected demise of co-CEO Han Jong-Hee in March. He will now officially lead the teams responsible for mobile phones, TVs, and home appliances, enhancing the company’s focus on consumer products in a highly competitive global landscape.

This leadership shift coincides with Samsung's enhancements to its business support office, which has now evolved into a strategic division tasked with coordinating decisions across its vast array of operations from semiconductors to smartphones.

By reinstating the co-CEO model, Samsung seeks to ensure a balanced operational management approach across its primary business sectors, promoting a sharper focus and agility. This decision underlines the company's dedication to maintaining consistent leadership in the face of global technological challenges.

Samsung's strategy highlights a commitment to fortifying its key consumer divisions under adept leadership, sustaining its tradition of innovation and market leadership.
