Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Marry at Madison Square Garden

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Officially Tie the Knot

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have officially married in a grand ceremony held at Madison Square Garden in New York on Friday. The wedding was officiated by actor Adam Sandler and attended by around 1,000 guests, including several well-known names from the entertainment and sports industries.

According to Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, the couple wore custom Christian Dior outfits designed by Jonathan Anderson. Paine described Swift's wedding dress as the designer's first couture bridal gown created for a globally renowned celebrity. Both also wore custom-made Christian Louboutin shoes, while Swift completed her look with Cartier jewellery.

Family Members Played Special Roles

The wedding ceremony did not include traditional bridesmaids or groomsmen.

Instead, Taylor Swift's brother, Austin Swift, served as her man of honour, while Travis Kelce's brother, Jason Kelce, was his best man.

Following confirmation from Tree Paine that the couple had officially married, a display outside Madison Square Garden lit up with the words "JUST&T MARRIED," a play on the names Taylor and Travis.

The venue itself was illuminated in a pink-lavender colour after the ceremony.

Celebrity Guests Attend the Star-Studded Wedding

The wedding attracted a long list of celebrities from Hollywood, music, fashion and sports.

Among those seen attending were Hugh Grant and his wife Anna Elisabet Eberstein, Jason Sudeikis, Benson Boone, Gigi Hadid, Bradley Cooper, Dakota Johnson, Ethan Hawke, Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner. Members of Travis Kelce's NFL team, the Kansas City Chiefs, also attended the celebration.

A stream of blacked-out SUVs arrived throughout the day, entering the venue through a temporary tent built outside Madison Square Garden to shield guests from public view.

Wedding Celebrations Began a Day Earlier

The celebrations started on Thursday with a smaller pre-wedding event. According to permits filed with New York City officials, Friday's ceremony was the main celebration.

The 20,000-seat arena was considered an unusual wedding venue by many because it is best known for concerts and sporting events. However, its lack of windows and underground access points offers a high level of privacy.

Streets Closed as Fans Gather Outside

The New York City Police (NYPD) closed roads around Madison Square Garden during the day, restricting both vehicle and pedestrian movement.

Despite temperatures reaching 37°C (98.6°F), thousands of Swift fans gathered outside the venue. Many sang Taylor Swift's songs and chanted, "We love you Taylor."

Some people climbed scaffolding nearby in an attempt to get a better view of the celebrations.

Canadian teenager Emily, who was outside the venue, she had expected the wedding to feature "more gardens, more flowers, more tropical" decorations and something "more Taylor Swift."

New York resident Rose said she believed the wedding would be beautiful but felt closing busy city streets was inconvenient for the public. She added that she hoped it could have been held somewhere less disruptive.

Meanwhile, fan Tara Rosales said she had always believed Swift would marry in New York but never expected the ceremony to take place at Madison Square Garden. She said she was "actually shook" and excited by the news, adding, "She's never an inconvenience. Taylor can do whatever she wants."

Wedding Dominates Headlines

The two-day wedding celebration attracted widespread public attention. It led television news coverage, inspired lighting displays at the Empire State Building, and generated millions in online betting markets as people speculated about the event in the weeks leading up to it.

Pop culture critic Kristen Meinzer told that the marriage symbolised the coming together of two major parts of American popular culture—music and football.

"We worship at the throne of music and football, these are all the things we love in America married together," she said.

Meinzer also noted New York City's tradition of treating celebrities as part of everyday life rather than constantly surrounding them with attention.

Taylor Swift's Long Connection With New York

Taylor Swift has lived in New York since 2014 after purchasing two adjoining penthouses in Tribeca for $20 million (£15 million), later combining them into one large home.

She has previously said that living in New York allowed her to shop without constantly being recognised and that moving there changed her life. The city also inspired her song "Welcome to New York" from her album 1989.

Couple Donated Millions Before the Wedding

Ahead of the celebrations, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce donated $26 million (£19.5 million) to more than 20 charities. However, they did not mention their upcoming wedding while making the donations.

The wedding at Madison Square Garden has now become one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year, drawing attention from fans, media organisations and celebrities across the world.
