Bollywood legend Dharmendra, affectionately called the “He-Man” of Indian cinema, passed away in Mumbai on November 24, 2025, at the age of 89. His departure signifies the conclusion of a remarkable era in Hindi film, wrapping up an illustrious career that spanned over sixty years. Known for his commanding performances, captivating charm, and lasting impact on Indian cinema, Dharmendra was deeply grounded in his personal life, finding tranquility at his 100-acre farmhouse in Lonavala, far from the glitz of fame.
Much of Dharmendra's later life was spent in this idyllic retreat, where open fields and lush greenery offered a serene escape. Here, he connected with the simplicity and authenticity of his origins. His upbringing in Sahnewal, Punjab, rooted in agriculture, affirmed that farming was a fundamental aspect of his life, not merely a passing interest. Despite his superstar status, he preserved a strong bond with the land throughout his journey.
In contrast to the sleek modern residences of many of his contemporaries, Dharmendra's farmhouse exuded rustic charm, reflective of his character. The cozy interiors, adorned with warm wooden accents and earthy tones, invited closeness and warmth, providing a backdrop for gatherings with family and friends. He cherished those moments, creating an atmosphere rich in togetherness rather than opulence.
Among the highlights of his farmhouse was Dharmendra’s dedication to organic farming. Cultivating rice, vegetables, fruits, and various seasonal crops, he took personal delight in tending to his land. Capturing everyday moments—watering plants, wandering through fields, or picking ripe mangoes—brought him immense joy and serenity amid the hustle of urban life. The presence of buffaloes on the property complemented the rural atmosphere that resonated with his childhood memories and the values he held dear.
The expansive skies and tranquil surroundings turned the Lonavala farmhouse into a cherished haven for the esteemed actor. Even after rising to stardom, Dharmendra remained devoted to simplicity. His lifestyle affirmed that genuine fulfillment stemmed not from celebrity status, but from nature, diligent effort, and a profound connection to one’s roots.
Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, a celebrated actor, producer, and politician, was renowned for his handsome presence on-screen. His extensive filmography traversed various genres—romance, drama, action, and comedy—earning him a beloved place in the hearts of millions. Even after decades in the industry, he continued to grace the screen, with his next project being the war drama “Ikkis” alongside Agastya Nanda.
As we reflect on his legacy, the farmhouse serves as a poignant reminder of the man beyond the stardom—a figure who cherished life’s simple pleasures, the embrace of nature, and the significance of his heritage. Dharmendra's legacy, both in his cinematic contributions and personal ethos, will be celebrated for generations.
